Freshman Isabel Lopez (West Haven, Conn.) went 4-for-5 with her first career home run to lead the Albertus Magnus softball team to a 12-6 win over Mitchell College to open the 2013 season.

Lopez added a triple, two runs scored and two RBI as her home run came in her first career at-bat as a Falcon.

Albertus (1-0) opened the contest with a five-run first inning followed by a five-run second inning to take a 10-0 early lead.

Other Falcon newcomers paved the way for the Falcons as Jackie Medina (Bridgeport, Conn.) earned the win on the mound for Albertus in her first career start.  Veronica Hribko (East Haven, Conn.) went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored.

Brittney Urciouli (Newington, Conn.) added a 3-for-5 performance with a double, three runs scored and three stolen bases, while sophomore Aimee Mirto (Hamden, Conn.) recorded two hits and an RBI.

Sophomore Elaina Maio (West Haven, Conn.) registered a 3-for-4 outing along with a run scored for the Falcons as well.
