Freshman Samantha Masselli (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) struck out nine batters and allowed one hit in the Falcons' first victory of the season as the Albertus Magnus softball team defeated Cairn by a score of 9-1 on Monday afternoon.

Freshman Daysia Wehder (Queens, N.Y.) registered a grandslam as well as a single in her collegiate debut. Wehder singled in her first at-bat of the season before scoring on a Gillian Fortier (Naugatuck, Conn.) double in the third inning.  

In the fourth inning, Cairn miscues loaded the bases for the Falcons as Wehder connected for the grandslam and four RBI.  

Albertus added two more runs in the fifth inning thanks to a triple by Kirsten McGinty (East Lyme, Conn.) and runs scored by McGinty and Devon DeLallo (Redding, Conn.).
