The Albertus Magnus softball team opened the 2015 season with an 11-2 loss to La Roche on Monday afternoon. The Falcons were led by freshman Gillian Fortier (Naugatuck, Conn.) with two hits in her collegiate debut.

Fortier picked up singles in both the third and fifth innings for the Falcons as the Albertus lead-off hitter.

Sophomore Shyleen Ortiz (New Britain, Conn.) took the loss in the contest for the Falcons.

Brianna Spadacenta (East Haven, Conn.) led off the second inning with a single before scoring the Falcons' first run of the season.

In the third inning, senior Brittney Urciuoli (Newington, Conn.) led off the frame with her 107th career hit. She later scored after a Fortier single and an error by the La Roche left fielder.
