Castillo's Walk Off HR Lifts Falcons over Brooklyn 5-4 in Extras

Freshman Melissa Castillo (Taftville, Conn.) hit a walk-off two-run home run in the eighth inning to give the Albertus Magnus softball team a 5-4 victory over Brooklyn College in extra innings.  For Castillo, it was her first career home run as she finished the contest 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In the Falcons' home opener and first-ever game on the College's Celentano Turf Field, Albertus came-from behind scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game.  After Brooklyn took a 4-3 lead in the top of the eighth inning, Albertus answered quickly with one out in the bottom half of the frame.

Albertus improved to 3-6 with the win, while Brooklyn dropped to 1-2 on the year.

Samantha Masselli (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) went the distance for the Falcons on the mound as she struck out eight batters while walking two and giving up six hits. She improved to 3-2 on the year with the victory.

Brookyln's Kayla Hill took the loss to fall to 0-1 on the year as she came into the game in the sixth inning.  She threw 2.1 innings while allowing four hits. She struck out three batters as well.  Ashley Tkacsik started the contest on the rubber and went five innings, giving up four hits and three unearned runs, while striking out three.

Brittney Urciuoli (Newington, Conn.) finished the game with two hits, while Daysia Wehder (Queens, N.Y.) tallied two hits and one RBI.
