Franklin Named GNAC Rookie of the Week, Stettinger Earns Spot on Weekly Honor Roll

Winthrop, Mass. – Albertus Magnus College softball first-year standout Janelle Franklin (Middletown, Conn.) was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, while sophomore Jess Stettinger (East Haven, Conn.) landed on the GNAC Weekly honor roll, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Frankiln hit safely in five of six games for the Falcons and batted .588 (10-17) to go with a .632 on-base percentage and a .647 slugging percentage for an OPS of 1.279. The rookie knocked in four RBI, doubled, scored seven runs and drew in two walks. She struck out three times over 17 at bats. She opened the week with a season-high three-hit, two-RBI performance in the 6-3 win over Medialle. Franklin came back the next two games with back-to-back two hit performances before capping the week with a combined three-hit showing. 

Stettinger recorded at least a hit in five of the six games during the Falcons' Spring Break (3-3) to the Palmetto State. She batted .545 (12-22) with a .583 on-base percentage and a .818 slugging average to give her an OPS of 1.401. The infielder knocked in five runs, while scoring eight times, drew a pair of walks, collected three doubles and posted a home run. Stettinger only struck out once in 22 plate appearances. The two-year standout began the week with three straight multi-hit games, including a 3-for-3 performance in the loss to Fitchburg State. Stettinger capped the week by going 5-for-10 over three games, highlighted by a 4-for-4 showing at the plate to go with four RBI, a home run, a double and two runs scored in the 11-2 win over Penn St.-Abington.
