HOW IT HAPPENED - Game 1

The Falcons opened the scoring in game one in the very first inning. Geloso led off with a scorching double down the left-field line, before Franklin bunted her over to third. Peyton Davis (North Haven, Conn.) ripped a single through the 5-6 hole that scored Geloso and gave the Falcons the early 1-0 advantage. Blue Jays hurler Amanda Savenelli ended the threat with an inning-ending groundout.

Albertus added to their lead in the second inning. Madison LaBossiere (Griswold, Conn.) led off the frame with a walk, before the Blue Jays got two quick outs. Ava Gladwin (Guilford, Conn.) replaced LaBossiere on base with a fielder's choice, before Arent ripped a single to left field. A Geloso single scored Gladwin before Franklin followed up with a laser up the middle that scored Arent for the second run, 2-0.

The Falcons loaded the bases to start the fifth, as Franklin, Kayla Resto (Shelton, Conn.), and Davis hit back-to-back-to-back singles. A Blue Jays error and a Gladwin single plated two more runs for the Falcons and gave the hosts the 5-0 advantage.

Albertus continued to swing the bat in the sixth, loading the bases behind a Blue Jays error and singles from Geloso and Franklin. A passed ball scored pinch-runner Karissa Kerrs (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) before Stettinger laced a single to the outfield to score Geloso and give the Falcons the 7-0 lead.

Arent had a dominant day in the circle, as the southpaw hurled a complete-game shutout while scattering six hits and two walks, and striking out seven.

With one out and the bases loaded, a Kerrs groundout scored a run then Stettinger followed up with a double into left field to score two more, 3-0. A LaBossiere single put runners on the corners before Breanna Saldivar (Middletown, Conn.) worked a walk to load the bases. Gladwin ripped a single to right field to score Stettigner, 4-0, before Blue Jays hurler Adrina Quealey induced a flyout from Geloso to stymie the rally.

The Blue Jays scored a run in the bottom of the frame off of Falcon's hurler Dighello to bring the score to 4-1. Three singles from the Blue Jays pushed a run across before the Falcons ensnared Breanna Catalani in a rundown for the final out of the inning.

The Falcons hung another tally in the fourth inning. Geloso led off the frame with a triple to deep right field, before Franklin reached on a bunt single. With runners on the corners, Davis slashed a single up the middle to score Geloso and put the Falcons up 5-1. Quealy slammed the door from there, getting three quick outs to halt the rally.

Stettinger led off the seventh inning with a long double into the right-center field gap, before advancing to third on a wild pitch. Celine Wood (Pawling, N.Y.) roped a single back through the box that scored Stettinger for Albertus' sixth and final run of the game.
