Winthrop, Mass. - Junior Rah Rah Thompson (Bridgeport, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team was named this week's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Thompson averaged 24.0 points, 23.5 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks in a 2-0 week for Albertus, which nailed down the No. 3 seed in the GNAC Tournament following a crucial 68-62 home win over Suffolk in Saturday's regular-season finale. With the monster week, in which she shot 52.6% (20-38 FG) from the floor, she extended her double-double count to 18 on the year. She opened the week by filling it up for 22 points, 22 rebounds (nine offensive) and three steals in a win over No. 8 seed JWU before erupting for a season-high 26 points, 25 rebounds (12 offensive) and three blocks in the vital victory over No. 4 seed Suffolk.

The Falcons will face sixth-seeded Regis (Mass.) College in the quarterfinals of the GNAC Tournament on Tuesday, February 19 in New Haven, Conn. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
