Director of Athletics Jim Abromaitis has announced the hiring of Joe Caruso as the new head coach of the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team.

Caruso recently served as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at the nearby University of New Haven.  He was also the head girls' lacrosse coach at Joel Barlow High School in Redding, Conn. until 2010.  At Joel Barlow, he also coached freshmen girls' basketball and junior varsity field hockey.

He has been an avid coach for Redding-Easton Lacrosse (RE-LAX), a player development group, while he also worked at the World Class Lacrosse Camps at Wesleyan University and the Nike Field Hockey Camp at Fairfield University. 

In addition, he coached at the under-15 girls' level in the Connecticut Nutmeg State Games from 2004 until 2010.

Caruso will lead the Falcons' women's lacrosse program in its first-ever varsity season in the spring of 2014.
