The University of St. Joseph Blue Jays defeated the Albertus Magnus College women's lacrosse team 17-0 at Celentano Field in New Haven, Conn. The Falcons fall to 0-4 on the season and 0-4 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play while the Blue Jays improve to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the GNAC.

The Blue Jays struck early in the first half with an opening goal from Erika Leitao just over a minute into the contest. The quick goal was just one of Leitao's four goals of the game.

The Blue Jays opened up the first half with an 11-0 lead. Dayna Gambino led all assist leaders with three as she found three different teammates for goals.

At the half St. Joseph led the falcons 11-1 on draw controls, 27-7 on shots, and 14-6 on ground balls.

The Falcons opened up a couple of opportunities in the second half. Kelsey Proctor (Milford, Conn.) was very active picking up a few ground balls and running from end to end. On one occasion, she found an open Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) who ripped a shot but was parried away by Anne Pitoniak. Pitoniak was solid in the net as she turned away all seven shots that were thrown her way.

The final score ended 17-0 in favor of the Blue Jays. Erika Blechert (Durham, Conn.) ended the game with 12 saves, nine of them coming in the first half.
Leitao and Rachel Foster led all scorers with four goals each, just edging out their teammate Haley Tufano who had three. Gambino led in assists with four.
The Falcons take on Emmanuel at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston, Mass. Saturday at 3:00.
