The Johnson and Wales University Wildcats defeated women's lacrosse 18-2 Tuesday afternoon at Celentano Field, in New Haven, Conn. The Falcons fall to 0-6 on the season and 0-6 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as the Wildcats improve to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the GNAC. However, Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) wrote history as she scored the first home goal for women's lacrosse on Celentano Field in program history.  

The goal came with 25:50 left in the first half to cut the Johnson and Wales lead to 3-1. Jassil had two goals on the day and recorded her third and fourth goal of the year.

Lydia Knapp played remarkable for the Wildcats as she dominated much of the scoring in the first half. If she wasn't putting in the ball in the back of the cage, she helped her teammates  with an assist. Through the first 23 minutes of play, Knapp scored three goals and recorded five assists. She ended with eight points for the day.

Freshman midfielder Fekianne Charles (Bridgeport, Conn.) recorded her first point of the season as she assisted a Jassil goal, finding Jassil cutting down field with a beautiful lead pass. The goal came with 19:07 left in the contest cutting the score to 13-2 in favor of the Wildcats.

The final score ended 18-2 after a goal from Kayla Smith with just under a minute to play.

The Wildcats were a perfect 11 for 11 on their clearing attempts and led the game in ground balls 25-9. Erika Blechert (Durham, Conn.) recorded 14 saves on the night. The Wildcats also outshot the Falcons 38-5.

The Falcons take on the Cadets of Norwich 1:00 on Saturday in Northfield, Vt.
