Altieri Nets Hat Trick in 18-3 Loss at Lasell

Freshman Halle Altieri (Guilford, Conn.) scored three goals in the Albertus Magnus women's lacrosse 18-3 loss to Lasell College on Saturday afternoon in the Falcons' Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular-season finale.

Lasell improved to 9-7 with the victory, while Albertus fell to 2-9 on the year and finished GNAC play with a 1-9 overall record.

Lasell opened today's contest with two goals within the first minute of play before Altieri finished on a free position shot attempt for her first goal of the day and 12th of the season. 

Lasell went on to score 11 unanswered goals to head into the halftime break with a 13-1 lead.  The Lasers outshot the Falcons 22-5 in the first half, while Bridget Doherty scored three first-half goals for Lasell.  Britney Wuorio and Ashley Gleason both tallied two goals each in the opening frame.

Albertus opened the second half with back-to-back goals by Altieri to make the score 13-3.

Jen Lemoine scored the next two goals for the Lasers as Stefanie Welch followed with the next two, giving Lasell a commanding lead.  Solange Carpenter finished out the scoring effort for Lasell with the Lasers' 18th goal of the contest.

The Lasers' outscored the Falcons 5-2 in the second half and outshot the Falcons 34-12 on the afternoon.

Seven of Altieri's eight shots were on goal for the Falcons, while Miranda Jassil (North Branford, Conn.) registered three shots.

Erika Blechert (Durham, Conn.) tallied 13 saves in net for the Falcons, while Lasell split its goalkeeping duties among three players.  Alexa Katsigianis started for Lasell and played 7:34 as she gave up one goal.  Brooke Bergeron made three saves and did not allow a goal in over 22 minutes of work, while Bridget Delaney tallied four saves in 30 minutes of play.  Delaney allowed both of the Falcons' second-half goals.

Albertus will host Mitchell College on Monday afternoon in a 3:30 p.m. non-conference contest on Celentano Field in New Haven.
