Shannon Skidmore (Terryville, Conn.) netted two goals, including the game winner, as the Albertus Magnus women's soccer team cruised to a 5-2 victory over Mitchell College on Monday afternoon. With the win, the Falcons improve to 5-1-1 on the year and remain unbeaten in their last five contests.

Skidmore's goal a minute into the second half put the Falcons ahead 3-1 before scoring 20 minutes later as she tallied her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

The Falcons controlled the tempo of the contest by outshooting the Mariners 35-8 on the afternoon, while earning a 6-1 edge in corner kicks. In the first half, the Falcons' held a 19-4 advantage in shots as they took a 2-1 lead into the break.

Amanda Roke (Cheshire, Conn.) scored Albertus' first goal of the afternoon in the ninth minute of play before Danielle Figueroa (Bridgeport, Conn.) tallied her second goal of the year in the 20th minute to put the Falcons ahead 2-0.

Mitchell (0-3-0) got on the scoreboard in the 28th minute with a goal scored by Alexandra Mahar as she put together a give-and-go play with teammate Jessica Balducci.

Two corners set-up both of Skidmore's goals as she headed the ball into the back of the net both times. Kelly Marchitto (West Haven, Conn.) put the first ball into the box before Sarah DiCenzo (Wallingford, Conn.) picked up the second assist.

Marchitto added a goal of her own a minute after Skidmore's second goal as she drilled a penalty kick into the back of the net in the 67th minute.

Christina Dineson (Milford, Conn.) recorded two saves in the victory as she played just over 82 minutes before being replaced by freshman Maria Chase (West Haven, Conn.). Chase made one stop in 7:20 of work. Mitchell's Kaylee Woodford made a season-high 14 stops in goal for the Mariners.

In the 77th minute, Dineson came out of the net to grab a loose ball but Mitchell's Alexandra Charles beat her to the ball and chipped in her first goal of the season. That Mitchell goal proved to be the final score of the contest.

Shelley Mirmina (Milford, Conn.) led all players with 14 shots in the contest, including six on goal.

The Falcons will continue on their four-game road trip with a GNAC match-up at Anna Maria College on Wednesday. That contest will begin at 4:30 p.m. in Paxton, Mass.
