Women's Swimming & Diving Fall in Home Opener to UMass-Dartmouth

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's swimming & diving team hosted its first dual meet of the 2022-23 season as the Falcons suffered a 121-51 loss to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS
100 Yard Freestyle
Ana Lucia Gutierrez Gomez (Sonora, Mexico) took first place in the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 59.95 to be the only swimmer to post a sub-one-minute time.
Camila Gordillo (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished fifth in the event with a time of 1:25.92.

50 Yard Free
Maria Estrada (Guatemala City, Guatemala) tallied the Falcons' second win of the afternoon, edging UMass-Dartmouth's Rachel Kerrigan by one one-hundredth of a second with a mark of 29.98.
• Gordillo finished fifth again in the 50 free, posting a time of 34.22.

200 Medley Relay
• In the first event of the meet, the relay team of Gutierrez Gomez, Estrada, Gordillo, and Sophie Olander (Amston, Conn.) took home second place with a combined time of 2:25.98.

1000 Yard Freestyle
• Estrada swam the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 13:54.18 to take second place.

200 Yard Freestyle
• Olander (2:21.99) picked up a second-place finish in the 200 free.

100 Yard Backstroke
• Gutierrez Gomez placed third in the 100 back with a time of 1:30.38.

500 Yard Freestyle
• Olander tallied a third-place showing in the 500 free with a time of 6:22.95.

200 Freestyle Relay
• Olander, Gordillo, Gutierrez Gomez, and Estrada teamed up again in the 200-free relay, earning second place with a combined time of 2:04.15.

UP NEXT
The Falcons will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 5, for a tri-meet against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) and Saint Joseph's College of Maine. The meet is slated for a 1 p.m. start and will take place at USJ's Bruyette Natatorium in West Hartford, Conn.
