New Haven, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis team defeated John Jay, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Celentano Courts in non-conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Albertus Magnus got off to a quick start, sweeping doubles play in a convincing fashion to build an early, 3-0, lead. At No. 3, the tandem of Nallely Magana (East Haven, Conn.) and Paige Williams (Orange County, Va.) cruised to an 8-1 win to give the hosts their first win of the day. Freshman Jessica Coughlin (Durham, Conn.) and Kelsea Wildman (Hamden, Conn.) outlasted their opposition for an 8-4 victory. The Falcon duo of Alicia Weaver (Bethel, Conn.) and Izzy Sabino (Cheshire, Conn.) netted a 9-8 triumph after being down 7-4 in the set.

The Falcons were dominate in singles action, winning five of the six matches to secure their sixth home win of the fall.
