Women’s Tennis Picked Eighth in GNAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis team was picked to finish eighth in the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The poll, released on Wednesday afternoon, was voted on by the league's eight head coaches.

The Falcons earned nine points, finishing just behind the University of Saint Joseph (CT). Johnson & Wales University received 58 points and three of the possible eight first-place votes to take the number one spot in the rankings.

Regis (Mass.) College placed second on the poll with 50 points and one first-place vote after finishing fourth in the standings last season. Eastern Nazarene College was slotted third in the preseason rankings with 49 points and one first-place vote.

Colby-Sawyer College took fourth place in the voting with 46 points and the final three first-place votes, while Simmons University and Suffolk University took fifth and sixth place, finishing with 31 and 25 points, respectively.

The Falcons will open the 2019 campaign against Lehman College on Saturday, Aug. 31, at home at the Celentano Courts at 1:00 PM.

Albertus Magnus College, founded in 1925 by the Dominican Sisters of Peace, is a Catholic College in the Dominican Tradition.
