Falcons Sweep Matches at New Rochelle

The Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team swept its competition by defeating both King's College (N.Y.) and New Rochelle in non-conference action on Saturday.

In the first match afternoon, the Albertus defeated King's College of New York 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-15, 25-22).  Led by both Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.) and Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) with 11 kills apiece, the Falcons improve to 4-4 on the year with the win.

Manning added an astonishing 10 service aces and 16 digs for the Falcons.  Sophomore Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.) registered 31 digs and two service aces. 

The Falcons dominated play throughout the match.

Amber Cohens added seven kills for the Falcons.  Prete added 14 digs, while Lily Dy (Torrington, Conn.) dished out 32 assists.

 

In match number 2, the Albertus women's volleyball blanked the College of New Rochelle 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-11).  Manning led the way with seven kills, while Cohens had six and freshman Taylor DePalma recorded five.  Manning also had 13 digs, while Puccilli led her team with 15 digs.  Prete also had five kills and 11 digs, while Dy had 19 assists and seven service aces.

The Falcons return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Mitchell College for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
