The Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team downed Mitchell College 3-1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23) on Tuesday night to register its fifth-straight win to improve to 6-4 on the year.  Tonight's victory also marked the second for the Falcons against Mitchell College this season.

The Falcons were led by Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) who tallied a season-high 19 kills with just two hitting errors, while she added 16 digs for her seventh double-double of the year.  Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.) continued her stellar season with 30 digs on the back line for the Falcons as well.

Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.) added seven kills and 18 digs, her career-high digs effort, for the Falcons.

Albertus took the first set by a dominating score of 25-13 before the Mariners bounced back to win the second set 25-20.  In the opening set, the Falcons led 17-12 before Prete went on a serving run to lead her team to the impressive victory.

Mitchell opened the second set with a 3-0 run before going ahead 21-15, its most impressive lead of the night. The Mariners won that set by five points.

The third set was a close one until a Prete kill broke the 13-all tie to give the Falcons the go-ahead point.  Her stellar serving increased the Falcons' advantage to 17-13.  She finished with three kills in the set, while Manning added five for the Falcons in the set victory.

The fourth set was tied at 23 before Albertus freshman Taylor DePalma (East Haven, Conn.) came through with a big kill to give the Falcons the 24-23 lead.  DePalma then teamed up with Amber Cohens to provide the Falcons with the final point of the contest to give Albertus a 25-23 win.

Lily Dy (Torrington, Conn.) dished out 34 assists, while recording 11 digs and three service aces.

Gloria Charles (New Haven, Conn.) led the Mariners with 19 kills on the night as Mitchell falls to 1-5 on the year.

The Falcons will be back in action this weekend when they host both Bay Path and CCNY in a Sunday afternoon non-conference tri-match. Albertus will play Bay Path at 11:00 a.m. before facing CCNY at 3:00 p.m.
