Sophomore Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Defensive Player of the Week.

Puccilli recorded 64 digs over 10 sets played to average 6.40 digs per set. Puccilli also collected five assists and four service aces to help her team post a 3-0 record for the week. The 3-0 stint improved the Falcons' record to 5-4 overall.

In addition to the positive team play, Puccilli registered an individual accolade in recording 31 digs against King's College (NY) this past Saturday. This serves as a career high for the sophomore, beating her season-high 25 digs last year against Mitchell College on September 22, 2012.

Senior Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) also had a solid week as she was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts.

Puccilli and Manning look to retain their stellar play this weekend as the women's volleyball team takes on Bay Path College and the City College of New York (CCNY) at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center on Sunday, September 22.
