Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) recorded 16 kills and 13 digs to lead the Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team to its seventh-straight victory as the Falcons downed CCNY 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) on Sunday afternoon in the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 8-4 on the year, while CCNY drops to 5-6 overall.

The Falcons opened the contest edging the Beavers 25-23 in the first set led by seven kills from Manning. Senior Lily Dy (Torrington, Conn.) handed out 12 assists in the frame, while Alyssa Puccilli (Milford, Conn.) led her team with seven digs.

The second set saw eight tied scored and five lead changes as CCNY opened the set with a 3-1 run.  The Falcons battled back to take an 8-6 lead thanks to a kill by freshman Amy Seliga (East Haven, Conn.). A Dy kill gave the Falcons an 18-15 lead before CCNY called a time out.

Out of the break, four consecutive kills from the Beavers' Leticia Marotti gave CCNY a 20-19 advantage. The Falcons pushed back after the score was tied at 20 thanks to strong serving by Seliga.  The Falcons clinched the set thanks to a CCNY service error.

In the third set, the Falcons clinched the match victory with a come-from-behind 25-22 win.  The Falcons were down 11-3 before battling thanks to strong serving by Leanna Velez (Waterbury, Conn.) and Ramona Onofrio (East Haven, Conn.).

The Falcons tied the match at 18 on a kill by freshman Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.).  A CCNY service error broke the tie in favor of the Falcons. Back-to-back kills by Dy and Manning secured the non-conference victory.

Dy dished out 25 assists in the contest, while Prete added 11 digs.  Onofrio added nine digs, two service aces, and three assists.

CCNY's Saye-Chantl Joseph led all players with 19 kills.

Albertus returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 28 when the Falcons travel to Standish, Maine to take on Saint Joseph's College (Maine) and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) in a trimatch.  Those matches serve as the Falcons' Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) 2013 debut.
