The Albertus Magnus women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday at Emmanuel College in Boston.  The Falcons dropped a 3-0 decision against the host Saints before defeating Mount Ida College 3-2 in a league thriller.

In the first match of the day, Emmanuel came out strong and scored the first 11 points of the opening set.  Sarah Colby paced the Saints' run by serving 10-straight points before Albertus' Amber Cohens (Hamden, Conn.) got the Falcons on the scoreboard with a kill.  Emmanuel's Kaitlyn Atkinson closed out the set for the Saints as they won 25-8.

In the second set, the Falcons jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before Emmanuel answered back with a 5-0 run.  The Saints held the Falcons to a .000 hitting percentage in the set en route to a 25-16 victory.  Emmanuel once again went on a commanding run to take a 7-1 lead early in the third set.  The Saints went on to win the set 25-13.

The Falcons were led by senior Melissa Manning (Milford, Conn.) with six kills and eight digs.  Caitlin Prete (Milford, Conn.) added a match-high 10 digs for the Falcons, while senior setter Lily Dy handed out 15 assists.

In the second match of the day, the Falcons outlasted the Mount Ida College Mustangs in a 3-2 thriller. After taking the first two sets by scores of 25-21 and 25-17, the Falcons looked to have the match all wrapped up before the Mustangs battled back to win the third and fourth sets.

In the fifth set, the Falcons came out of it in the end with a 15-9 victory for their first GNAC win of the season.
