Albertus Magnus Hosts Inaugural Falcon Leader and Service Awards Ceremony

New Haven, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College held its Inaugural Falcon Leader and Service Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 24 at the Tagliatela Academic Center, where members of the college gathered to honor the 19 students who were nominated for a Falcon Award.

Senior Zaida Velaszco (Dominican Republic) of the women's tennis team received the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year award for her involvement in athletics as well as maintaining a promising GPA.

Senior Dan Constantinidi (North Branford, Conn.) of the men's tennis team received the Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award for his leadership on the tennis court and his outstanding academic performance.

Junior Nikki Kern (Wallingford, Conn.) of the women's soccer and lacrosse team received the Female Athlete Outstanding Involvement award. Along with soccer and lacrosse, Kern is a member of various clubs on campus as well as the President of the Student Alumni Association. She also works in the Admissions Office.

Senior Christopher Taylor (Bronx, N.Y.) of the men's volleyball and tennis team received the Male Athlete Outstanding Involvement award. Taylor is very involved on campus with both SGA and the MALES club, as well as serving as a Student Orientation Counselor this year. He has been involved all three years and has learned to connect with all students to get the word out about events.
