NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College Athletic Department, in conjunction with Founder's Day Week, hosted an on-campus 5K on Saturday, Sept. 25th. The 5K was held on the steps of Rosary Hall and participants ran the perimeter of the school three times, before finishing the race back at Rosary Hall.
In total, there were over 80 participants in this year's Founder's Day 5K. Many of these participants were student-athletes as well as Albertus faculty and staff. For the student-athletes, the race counted for one hour of community service. In addition, many of the participants graciously donated money for the International Association of New Haven, which is a non-profit organization that funds programs in the Greater New Haven Area, whose missions and programs help to advance international understanding of other countries, and cultures. The top two finishers, male and female, were Charles Risk from the men's ice hockey team with a time of 19:30 and Sanjeewa Karunaratne from Library and Information Technology Services with a time of 27:23.
The College's Athletics and Dominican Ministries departments would also like to extend their sincerest thanks to the baseball, men's ice hockey, men's basketball, women's swimming & diving, men's lacrosse, and the men's and women's tennis teams for their participation in the 5K and their work behind the scenes to make this event a success!
