Albertus Magnus Athletics & SAAC Host Thanksgiving Food Drive During St. Albert Week

New Haven, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College Athletic Department and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) teamed up with the Dominican Mission & Ministry to help collect non-perishable food items for the Centro San Jose Family Center in New Haven, Conn.

The Thanksgiving Food Drive ran from Monday, November 8 to Wednesday, Nov. 17. The Thanksgiving Food Drive also ran during Albert Week (Nov. 15 - Nov. 19). Albert Week is a time to honor Saint Albert the Great and help promote the four pillars: study, prayer, community, and service.

The athletic teams collected over 300 food items such as stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, canned fruit, and vegetables, etc., and delivered the items to the center prior to their Turkey Giveaway Event, which was scheduled for November 17.

Centro San José Family Center, funded by the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven and the United Way of Greater New Haven, provides services to parents and caregivers designed to improve the school readiness and success of young children. Using a family-centered, strengths-based approach, we partner with families and empower them to obtain more satisfying experiences raising children by offering a comprehensive range of parent support and education programs.
