Volleyball Announces 2023 Schedule

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Third-year Albertus Magnus College head women's volleyball coach Ashley David and her Falcons announced their 2023 season schedule.

The Falcons have 32 matches scheduled for the 2023 season, opening up with a tri-match at home against Old Westbury and Salem State on September 2.

After playing their first road contest against SUNY Purchase on September 7, the Falcons go on a three-game homestand, taking on Curry and St. Joseph's (Long Island) followed by a night game against Fisher on September 12 at 7 p.m. The Falcons swept the season series against Curry in 2022 by scores of 3-0 and 3-2. 

Albertus opens up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with a night match at Elms on September 14  before going on a stretch where it will play eight non-conference games in a ten-game stretch. The Falcons start with a tri-match at Bard where they will also play its second game of the season against Purchase on September 16.  They'll then briefly go back into conference play as they host Mitchell in GNAC play on September 20 before hosting both Framingham State and Vermont State Lyndon in a tri-match on September 23.

Defending GNAC Tournament Champions, Johnson & Wales makes a trip to New Haven for a mid-week match on September 26 before a non-conference tri-match against Fitchburg State and host, Curry on September 30 followed by a home game against City College of New York and a game at Lehman on October 3 and 5, respectively. Last season, the Falcons swept Lehman, 3-0 (25-9, 25-18, 25-22).

Albertus gets into the heart of GNAC play beginning on October 7 where they'll take on Anna Maria and host Emmanuel in a tri-match. The Falcons came back from a 2-1 deficit against Anna Maria last season to win, 3-2 in a thrilling win. They'll travel to Bay Path for a non-conference match on October 12 before hosting Simmons and Norwich in New Haven just two days later, which begins a string of eight straight GNAC games.

Intrastate rival University of Saint Joseph will make the trip to the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center for a night match against the Blue Jays on October 18. Albertus will then take its longest trip of the season in the GNAC, heading to Saint Joseph's (Me.) to take on the Monks as well as GNAC newcomer, New England College on October 21.

They'll take on Dean on the road on October 25 and will wrap up its GNAC home schedule against Lasell and Rivier on October 28. 

Albertus will then wrap up its non-conference schedule, hosting Fitchburg State on Halloween and York (N.Y.) on November 2. The Falcons will wrap up their season with a tri-match at Colby-Sawyer where they will also take on Regis in GNAC play.
