NEW HAVEN, Conn. Victoria Jainchill (Simsbury, Conn.) of the Albertus Magnus College women's soccer team and Shamar Wilson (Runaway Bay, Jamaica) of the men's golf team both were recognized as Falcon Spotlight Players of the Week.
In a 2-0 week for the Falcons, Jainchill scored a goal in a 3-0 win over in-state rival Mitchell on September 20.
Jainchill followed up that performance with a two-goal performance against Rivier, who was in first place in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) prior to the game. Her goal in the 86th minute proved to be the game-winner.
For her efforts, Jainchill was named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll.
Wilson earned his third straight medalist honor after his even-par 71 in the Great Neck Duel against Mitchell College.
His efforts propelled the Falcons to their third win in as many matches to start their season. The Falcons finished with a 306 on the day, 68 strokes ahead of the Mariners. He was also recognized as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week for the third time.
It is also the second consecutive week Wilson was named a Falcon Spotlight Player of the Week.
