NEW HAVEN, Conn. — In this week's "Taking Flight" Players of the Week, Annabelle Jabs (East Hartland, Conn.) fortified the mound for the Albertus Magnus College softball team, while Adriel Espada (Bridgeport, Conn.) helped lift the baseball team to a monster win to open the season.
Jabs started the season with a 2-0 pitching record for the Falcons after she denied the University of Wisconsin-Platteville a single run through seven innings of work and delivered a 2-0 triumph over the Raiders. The right-hander also closed out the final two innings against St. Mary's (Ind.) in a 12-6 triumph and struck out a trio of batters.
Espada blasted four runs on three hits across four games and the junior brought home two Falcons in the 12-4 victory over King's (Pa.) on March 19 in Myrtle Beach.
