Men’s Ice Hockey Fights off Falcons

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Curry College defeated Albertus Magnus 4-3 Saturday night in a non-conference collegiate men's ice hockey matchup at the Ralph Walker Skating Rink.

With the win, the Colonels improve to an overall record of 11-4-1 while remaining 6-3 in conference play.

Sophomore Taurin Haddon-Harris (Boca Raton, Fla.) evened the score at 1-1 after scoring the first Curry goal off a pass from graduate student Austan Bellefeuille (Framingham, Mass.). The goal was scored in the 14th minute of play in the first period.

Sophomore Gage Dill (Estero, Fla.) gave the Colonels a 2-1 lead after scoring a goal five minutes into the second period. He was assisted on the play by sophomore Matt Connor (Nottingham, N.H.) and senior Tao Ishizuka (Providence, R.I.)

Connor joined the list of goal scorers with four minutes remaining in the final period, assisted on the play by sophomore Killian Rowlee (Fulton, N.Y.), to put the Colonels on top 3-2. A desperate Albertus Magnus team then pulled the goalie out of the net, allowing junior Eelis Laaksonen (Espoo, Finland) to score an empty net goal that would ensure victory for Curry.

Senior Oscar Wahlgren (Gothenburg, Sweden) played the entire game in net for the Colonels, making 33 saves in the victory over the Falcons.

Curry College returns to the ice on Friday, January 19th, to take on Western New England University beginning at noon.
