KINGS POINT, N.Y. - The Albertus Magnus College baseball team lost a 9-3 game to the United States Merchant Marine Academy in a non-conference game.

Eric Galarza (Bridgeport, Conn.) went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run. Jason Sullivan (Meriden, Conn.) and Elijah Spataj (Cheshire, Conn.) each had two hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Merchant Marine got on the board in the bottom of the first on a leadoff homerun from Jack Millen to make it a 1-0 game. Albertus tied the game a half inning later as a sacrifice fly from King Rivera (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored Galarza, who singled to lead off the inning.
• A balk in the fourth inning gave Merchant Marine its second lead, but the Falcons took their first lead in the top of the fifth as Galarza doubled to score Troy Piascik. Colin Telford (Branford, Conn.) followed with a sacrifice fly to score Spataj, who singled to make it a 3-2 game.
• The Albertus lead was short lived as the Mariners scored four times in the bottom of the fifth, highlighted by a three-run bases clearing double from Garrett Clapsaddle as they took a 6-3 lead.
• The Mariners scored three more insurance in the next inning, and again it was Clapsaddle with the big hit, driving in two runs on a single. The Falcons left two runners on base in the seventh and ninth innings, but were unable to capitalize.
