HOW IT HAPPENED
After a back-and-forth start to tonight's game that saw very few clock stoppages, the Valiants scored the contest's first goal 12:24 into the opening period. The goal was sparked by a bouncing puck behind the crease, as Mason Emoff sent a rebound in front of the net to Niko Happo, who calmly hit the top-right corner.

The Falcons quickly answered Ignazzitto, scoring on the power play less than a minute-and-a-half later. After winning a faceoff, Ignazzitto went to screen the keeper, placing him in the right spot to clean up an Alex Gagnon (Montreal, Quebec) shot for a goal 13:52 into the first to tie the score at 1-1.

The potent Albertus offense continued to shine, scoring again 32 seconds later to take a 2-1 advantage. Owen Allan (Ancaster, Ontario) netted the following goal, tipping in a Risk shot from the blue line. Luke James (Moon Township, Pa.) earned an assist on the Allan score.

After the Valiants evened the score at two apiece midway through the second, the visitors did not score another goal for the rest of the game.

Albertus took its second lead of the day near the end of the third period, cashing in on another power play with 1:33 left in the frame. Ryan Colwell (Plainedge, N.Y.) cashed in on a loose puck in front of the crease, sending a shot past the out-of-position keeper to make it 3-2 Falcons. Risk and Jonathan Stein (Vancouver, British Columbia) both earned assists on the play.

The third period was all Albertus, as the home squad scored both of the frame's goals. Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) scored the first goal, playing a give-and-go with James 7:15 into the period. Ignazzitto capped off his outstanding night at the 15:36 mark, stealing the puck in the neutral zone before scoring his second goal off a pass from Stein to give the game its final score of 5-2.

The third stood as a defensive battle, as both teams combined for just nine shots on goal. Between the pipes for Albertus, Logan Bateman (Ottawa, Ontario) finished the contest with 18 saves on 20 shots to even his season record at 2-2-0.
