HARTFORD, Conn.- The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team defeated the No. 15 nationally-ranked Bantams of Trinity (Conn.) College by a 3-1 final score in road action on Tuesday evening. The win is the Falcons' first against a nationally-ranked opponent, and it serves as the program's sixth straight triumph.

BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons came out on top after an even-fought first period, where Trinity tallied 11 shots and Albertus logged 10. AMC broke through for the period's only goal on a score from Alex Gagnon (Montreal, Quebec). Gagnon cashed in on a Ryan Colwell (Plainedge, N.Y.) pass to put the Falcons up 1-0 16:56 into the frame.

Following a Bantams' goal that knotted the score at 1-1 midway through the second period, Albertus answered to retake the advantage 12:55 into the frame. Owen Allan (Ancaster, Ontario) netted the goal to put the visitors up 2-1, heading to the third. Charles Risk (Medicine Hat, Alberta) was credited with his team-leading 10th assist on the play, while Logan Bateman (Ottawa, Ontario) became the first Albertus netminder to earn a point with a helper.

Both defenses shined in the third period, as neither team scored through the first 19:27. The Albertus defense continued to give the home team fits, holding the Bantams without a goal to seal the road victory. Bateman maintained his impressive run of play by making 29 saves on 30 shots to pick up his sixth consecutive win.

Offensively, the Falcons tallied the game's final goal in the waning seconds, as Jonathan Stein (Vancouver, British Columbia) found the back of the net for a team-leading eighth time on an empty-net opportunity to seal the 3-1 final score.
