Big Nights from Colwell and Weitzman Lead Men's Ice Hockey to 5-4 Win over Anna Maria

AUBURN, Mass. – Outstanding performances from Ryan Colwell (Plainedge, N.Y.) (2g, 1a) and Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) (1g, 3a) led the Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team to a road 5-4 victory over Anna Maria College on Sunday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Falcons opened tonight's scoring just 20 seconds into the game by taking advantage of an AMCATS mistake in their zone.
• Anna Maria tried to clear the puck out of the corner, but Sam Anderson (Calgary, Alberta) jarred possession away before finding Weitzman, who assisted Colwell's first tally.
• Albertus built a 2-0 advantage by the 8:54 mark when Weitzman scored after making a move from behind the net and sneaking a shot by the keeper's left-leg pad.
• Following a score by the AMCATS, the Falcons rebuilt its advantage to two, 3-1, after a power-play goal by Colwell.
• At the 13:03 mark, Colwell capitalized on a Weitzman pass to the front of the crease, finding paydirt for his second goal of the day.
• Albertus again answered an Anna Maria goal, taking a 4-2 advantage 8:20 into the second period.
Stephen Kyrkostas (Long Island, N.Y.) scored the Falcons' fourth goal by streaking down the right side of the ice after a Caden Pattison (Lake Stevens, Wash.) faceoff win before looping behind the net and scoring to the goalie's stick side.
• The Falcons capitalized on a power play near the end of the second to take a 5-3 advantage into the third period.
• With an extra skater, Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio) had ample space on the right side of his zone to backhand a shot into the top-right corner of the net.
• Despite ceding the lone goal of the third period, the Falcons held on to earn a road victory over the AMCATS, 5-4.
• In goal, Logan Bateman (Ottawa, Ontario) earned his third win of the season after making 23 saves.

Alex Gagnon (Montreal, Quebec) led all players with six shots tonight.
