HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons struck first blood in this afternoon's contest, as Sam Anderson (Calgary, Alberta) gave the visitors a 1-0 advantage 3:36 into the opening period.
  • After getting the puck in his defensive zone, Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio) skated up ice and beat a defender before putting a shot on cage that was saved. A trailing Anderson took full advantage and slapped the loose puck by the moving keeper to his glove side.
  • After the quick goal, both defenses settled in as neither team scored for the remainder of the first and the duration of the second period as the game went to the third with Albertus ahead 1-0.
  • The Falcons broke the scoreless drought at 11:37 in the third period on a goal by Stephen Kyrkostas (Long Island, N.Y.).
  • Bailey Kirwin (Barrie, Ontario) started the scoring play by poking the puck away at the blue line, where Kyrkostas collected the puck and deked a defender before finding the top-left corner to give AMC a 2-0 lead.
  • Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio) put the finishing touches on the Falcons' 3-0 victory by firing an empty-net, short-handed goal from the left point at 18:09 after a Morrisville skater failed to keep the puck on the boards. Bateman earned an assist on the goal by sending the puck up the boards to Manning.
