Falcons Score Four Different Ways In Win Over Morrisville

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus men's ice hockey team scored four different ways in a 4-1 victory over SUNY Morrisville on Tuesday evening at Ralph Walker Ice Rink.

The Falcons scored at even strength, on a power play, a penalty shot and an empty net.

Albertus also had four different goal scorers as Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio), Sam Anderson (Calgary, Alberta), Gustav Muller (Hudiksvall, Sweden) and Connor Bertamini (Calgary, Alberta) all found the back of the net.

THE BASICS

FINAL: Albertus Magnus 4 | SUNY Morrisville 1

RECORDS: Albertus Magnus (11-6) | SUNY Morrisville (3-13)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Albertus knocked on the door plenty of times during the first period and finally broke through on their tenth shot on goal of the game at the 14:41 mark. After a faceoff in the offensive zone, Bertamini made a pass to the left side of the net to Tyler Ignazzitto, who then made a touch pass to Manning who knocked the puck in to put the Falcons up, 1-0. Logan Bateman (Ottawa, Ontario) stopped all seven shots he faced in the period as Albertus held on to the one-goal lead into the second.

During a scrum in front of the net in the second period, Morrisville's Robert Haak attempted to move the puck with his hand in the crease, and the Falcons were awarded a penalty shot at the 10:25 mark. Anderson took advantage going to his backhand and beating Morrisville goaltender Garrett Boyonoski for his team-leading tenth goal of the season. With the goal he tied teammate Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec) for most goals in program history with 31.

Morrisville got on the board just 20 seconds later on a goal from Dominic Della Civita to make it a 2-1 game, which the Falcons held going into the third.

Less than a minute into the third period on a power play. Weitzman, who was behind the net fed Muller who ripped a shot top shelf over Boyonoski's head to give Albertus the 3-1 lead.

With just 45 seconds remaining, Bertamini added an empty net goal for the final tally of the game. It was Bertamini's third goal of the season.
