READING, Pa. - The Albertus Magnus College men's ice hockey team closed out its 2023-24 season with a 3-2 win over Alvernia University on Friday evening.
The Falcons finish their season with a 16-9-0 record, including wins in their final three games and five of their last six.
William Lavigne (Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs, Quebec), Gustav Muller (Hudiksvall, Sweden) and Robert Barrasso (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) each scored a goal for the Falcons while Tyler Ignazzitto (Bath, Ontario) finished with two assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lavigne put the Falcons on the board just 1:29 into the game on the power play as Tim Manning (Concord, Ohio) fed him the puck along the blue line. Lavigne then ripped a slap shot through, making it a 1-0 game early on.
- The Golden Wolves got on the board at the 16:43 mark of the first period on a shorthanded goal as Gabriel Malek stole the puck and raced down and fell into the net as he made it a 1-1 game.
- Albertus scored twice in the second period, the first coming from Muller on a 5-on-3. On the goal Ignazzitto fed Harley Michaels (Kirkland, Quebec). Michaels fed the puck to Muller who blasted a one-timer past Alvernia goaltender, Jackson Fellner to make it a 2-1 game at the 10:42 mark. Ignazzitto's assist was the 41st of his career, tying him for the most all-time in program history with teammate Cameron Weitzman (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec).
- Barrasso added a goal at the 17:57 mark of the second period when he found himself on a breakaway with just Fellner to beat and he shot the puck over Fellner's left shoulder for his first career goal.
- Alvernia added one more goal From Frazer Dodd with under a minute left in the game.

NOTEWORTHY
- It was just the second meeting between the two teams as they are now tied 1-1 all-time.
- It's the third straight season the Falcons finished with at least 16 wins. They are 49-24-2 over the last three seasons.
- Ignazzitto and Sam Anderson (Calgary, Alberta) finished the season as the two top point scorers with 20 apiece. Anderson was the team's leading goal scorer with 11, and Ignazzitto finished with 17 assists.
- The Falcons had 12 players finish with at least 10 points on the season.
- Bateman finishes his season 14-8-0 in net and 43-20-1 in his career. He is the school's all-time leader in wins, saves (1,693) and save percentage (.918).
- Weitzman finishes his career as the program's all-time leading goal scorer with 34 and points with 75, and is tied for the all-time lead in assists.
