Men's Hockey Gets Six On All-Independent Team; Bateman Named Player Of The Year, Wallack Named Coach Of The Year

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Goaltender Logan Bateman (Ottawa, Ontario)  was named Player of the Year, Kyle Wallack was named Co-Coach of the year and five others were named to All-Independent teams as the honorees were announced.

Along with Bateman, Sam Anderson (Calgary, Alberta) and Harley Michaels (Kirkland, Quebec) were also named to the first team. Tyler Ignazzitto (Bath, Ontario) made the second team and William Lavigne (Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs, Quebec) and Eric Chamandy (Montreal, Quebec) were named to the All-Rookie team.

Bateman had a stellar year in net, going 14-8-0 with 570 saves, a 2.10 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage. He also notched two shutouts on the season in wins over Nichols and Neumann. It was the second straight season Bateman made the first team.

Wallack earned his Coach of the Year honor for the second straight season, guiding the Falcons to a 16-9 record, including a 2-1 win over Salve Regina in overtime on November 14. Over the last three seasons, Wallack has compiled a 49-24-2 record leading the Falcons.

Anderson - who made the second team in 2022-23 - replicated his season from a year ago, playing in 25 games with a team-leading 11 goals to go with nine assists and tying for the team lead with 20 points. Anderson had seven games where he registered two points including two-goal performances in wins over Johnson & Wales and in a game against SUNY Plattsburgh.

Michaels finished the season with a goal and 14 assists, which was second on the team. He opened the season with an assist in each of the first three games and had a goal and an assist in a 6-0 win over Nichols on December 9.

Ignazzitto tied for the team lead in points with 20 after scoring three goals with a team-leading 17 assists on the season. Ignazzitto had three assists in each of the first two games of the season and had a goal and an assist in a win over Rivier on Jan. 30.

Lavigne finished with four goals and seven assists in his rookie campaign, including a goal and two assists in an 8-1 win over Post University on November 28. 

Chamandy, a defenseman, had one goal on the season, to go with three assists. He had a career-high two points after scoring a goal and earning an assist in a win over Post.
