Stinson Named to the NEILA All-Academic Team

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Former Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse standout Mykel Stinson (Bridgeport, Conn.) was named to the 2021 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) All-Academic Team, which was announced by the organization on June 7th.

Members of the teams are nominated by head coaches in Divisions I, II and II, and are comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their men's lacrosse career.

The list represents an increase of nearly 100 student-athletes from the 2019 selections. No teams were selected last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nominees must have senior or graduate student standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough player that he was nominated for at least All-Conference selection.

Stinson, who also was named to the 2021 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Third Team, recorded a stellar senior season, setting new career-highs with 23 points and 12 assists, while also tying a career mark with 11 goals. The Bridgeport, Conn., native paced the team with 13 caused turnovers, in addition to being second in assists and ground balls (48) and third in points and goals. After his senior campaign, Stinson climbed to third in program history in career ground balls (164) and fifth in caused turnovers (40).
