Men’s Lacrosse Picked to Finish Ninth in GNAC Coaches Preseason Rankings

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team was picked to finish ninth in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office on Monday morning. The league's 11 head coaches voted on the poll.

Last spring, Albertus finished with a 2-7 overall record, with wins over Mitchell College in, 15-9, before closing out the season with an 11-9 victory over the Salem State Vikings.

The Falcons return stalwart goaltender Dane Walsh (Bethany, Conn.), face-off expert Jayme Toro (East Haven, Conn.), attackman Charles Stewart (Stratford, Conn.), and midfielder Zaheim Wilkins (Mastic Beach, N.Y.).

With their talented core of players, the Falcons earned 30 points in this year's preseason rankings, finishing in ninth place, ahead of Anna Maria (26 points) and Regis (Mass.) (21 points).

Norwich University took the top spot in the rankings, earning 116 points and six of the 11 possible first-place votes. Lasell University followed close behind with 110 points and the remaining five first-place votes.

Saint Joseph's College of Maine slotted in at third place with 89 points, while Rivier University took fourth place with 87 points. Johnson & Wales University and University of Saint Joseph's CT took fifth and sixth place in the rankings, finishing with 77 and 59 points, respectively.

Emmanuel College and Dean College rounded out the GNAC rankings, finishing in seventh and eighth place while securing 56 and 55 points.
