Men's Lacrosse Victorious at Regis for First GNAC Win of Season

WESTON, Mass. - The Albertus Magnus College men's lacrosse team picked up its first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) win of the season this afternoon, besting Regis (Mass.) College by a 6-3 final score on the road in Weston, Mass.

Zaheim Wilkins (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) led the way for the Falcons with three goals, which tied a career-high. Charles Stewart (Stratford, Conn.) finished the day with two goals, while Andrew Ten (Trumbull, Conn.) had a pair of assists. In the cage, Dane Walsh (Bethany, Conn.) made 18 saves while allowing just three goals for a whopping 85.7 save percentage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After allowing a goal to the Pride to open the game, the Falcons bounced back with back-to-back strikes to take a 2-1 advantage. Stewart began AMC's scoring with an unassisted tally with 3:28 left in the first quarter before Wilkins found the back of the net exactly a minute later to send Albertus into the second quarter up 2-1.

Wilkins did not waste any time in the second to net his next goal, tallying a goal 1:46 into the frame to make it a 3-1 game. Regis scored again at the 3:33 mark to cut the deficit to one, 3-2, where it stood heading into the halftime break.

In the third quarter, the Falcons took over the game, winning the frame by a 3-1 margin to widen its lead to 6-3. Will Capalbo (Fairfield, Conn.) scored first on an assist by Tyler Landsiedel (Stamford, Conn.) at the 11:40 mark. Wilkins was next to score at the 3:44 mark before Stewart iced the 6-3 victory 22 seconds later. Ten handed out assists on both of AMC's final two goals.

Between the pipes, Walsh shined with 18 saves on the way to his fifth win of the season.
