Falcons Drop 7-2 Decision to Mitchell

The Albertus Magnus men's tennis team fell to Mitchell College 7-2 on Sunday morning in the first match of the afternoon double-header. With the win, Mitchell improved to 12-1 on the season.

The Falcons picked up one point in singles' play and one in doubles' play in the non-conference loss. Riker Mitchell (Naugatuck, Conn.), who was named the GNAC Rookie of the Week last week, won No. 3 singles for the Falcons as he defeated Mitchell's Randy Coons 6-2, 6-3. For Coons it was just his fifth loss on the year as he moved to 8-5 overall in singles' play.

In doubles' action, Tim Gabbard (North Haven, Conn.) and Richard Mitchell (Naugatuck, Conn.) won in the No. 1 spot with an 8-6 victory over Mitchell's Andrew Small and Chris McKeon. The loss for Small and McKeon was their first in the No. 1 doubles' position this season as they fell to 6-1 on the year for the Mariners.
