Falcons Fall to Endicott 3-0 in ECAC Semifinals

The Albertus Magnus men's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-18) decision to Endicott College in the ECAC Division III North Semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

Albertus was led by Carlos Torres (Adjuntas, Puerto Rico) as the sophomore dished out 20 assists in the match. Brendan Charamut (Southington, Conn.) led the Falcons with seven kills in 28 attempts as he added three digs and one block.

The Falcons struggled in today's match as they hit just .024 combined in the three sets. Albertus recorded 24 kills and 22 errors in 85 tries at the net. Endicott tallied 41 kills on the afternoon for a .400 showing.

With the victory, Endicott went on to play Ramapo in the championship match; where the Gulls fell to the Roadrunners 3-0.

The second-seeded Gulls were led by nine kills from Matt Devendorf and eight kills from Jeremy Siden.

Endicott setters Jeremy Schlosser and Carter Roche dished out 22 and 16 assists, respectively, while the Gulls' overall record improved to 17-14 on the year.

Albertus' Douglas DeSousa (Danbury, Conn.) added four kills and five digs, while Glenn Johnson (Newington, Conn.) chipped in with six kills in 15 attempts along with five digs and two service aces.

Despite the ECAC loss, the Falcons registered its most successful season in program history as they finish 2012 with a 19-10 overall record. The Falcons' 19 victories mark a program-best, while Albertus earned multiple individual accolades from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) this season as well. Those honors included an All-Conference Second Team selection in Charamut and an All-Conference Third Team selection in Torres as the program was led by the 2012 GNAC Coach of the Year, Omar Ramirez.
