Postseason Begins
The Albertus Magnus College softball team finished the regular season with a 29-9 overall record and clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Tournament thanks to a 15-3 mark in league play.

The Falcons open postseason play on Thursday, May 5, with a double-elimination game against either third-seeded University of Saint Joseph (CT) or second-seeded Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University at 4 p.m. in New Haven, Conn. The winning team will then advance to the semifinals, which will be hosted by Emmanuel (Mass.) College, on Saturday, May 7.

Postseason Notes

  • Albertus Magnus is making its 17th appearance in the GNAC Tournament.
  • The Falcons are 15-22 all-time in the event and are searching for the team's first league title since 1997.
  • AMC has appeared in eight straight GNAC Tournaments.

2022 Recap

  • The Falcons started the season with their annual spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., and went 4-6, opening the season with a four-game winning streak before dropping six straight to close out the Myrtle trip.
  • The Falcons' return to Conn. was started by a doubleheader sweep of the John Jay College Bulldogs that started a historic 24-game winning streak for the Falcons.
  • During their program-record winning streak, the Falcons outscored the opposition 203-27, while AMC hurlers threw 11 shutout victories.
  • The Falcons went 10-0 to close out the month of March, defeating John Jay, Mt. St. Vincent College, MCLA, Curry College, and Eastern Nazarene College in five straight doubleheader sweeps.
  • The Curry doubleheader sweep was particularly notable, as the victory marked Coach Ed Emielita's and Coach Curt Hawkes' 200th career victories at the helm of the Albertus Magnus College softball squad.
  • Albertus continued to shine in April, defeating Dean College 13-3 and 11-0 in a doubleheader sweep to open the month.
  • The Falcons then completed six straight doubleheader sweeps over St. Joseph's Conn., Regis (Mass.) College, Elms College, Lasell University, Norwich University, and Rivier University to cement a 14-0 record going into the final two doubleheaders of the season.
  • The Wildcats of Johnson & Wales ended the Falcons' winning streak, but the blue-and-white bounced back to secure a doubleheader split with the Saints of Emmanuel (Mass.) College in the regular-season finale.

This Year vs. JWU

  • The Wildcats got the better of the Falcons in both ends of a doubleheader at the Shea Softball Field.
  • Mackenzie Clee tallied four hits over the two games with four runs and three RBIs and picked up the win in the circle in game two.
  • Jess Stettinger (East Haven, Conn.) led the Falcons with three hits in the twin bill.

  • Erin Dighello (Wallingford, Conn.) was just as effective in game two, going 6.0 innings while allowing one run.
  • Ivy Geloso (Beacon Falls, Conn.) and Janelle Franklin (Middletown, Conn.) tallied six hits over the doubleheader.
