Coach Emielita Inducted into Connecticut Scholastic and Collegiate Softball Hall of Fame

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - In the midst of a historic season at the helm of the Albertus Magnus College softball program that saw the team post an overall mark of 29-10 and has one of the longest winning streaks in the NCAA this season at 24 games, head coach Ed Emielita has been honored with induction into the Connecticut Scholastic and Collegiate Softball Hall of Fame.

Coach Emielita has helmed the Albertus Magnus College softball team for the past 12 seasons and, to date, has an overall coaching record of 218-196.

Coach Emielita revitalized a program with zero wins the year before he was hired into one, with 16 wins by his second season. During his tenure as the head coach of the blue-and-white, the AMC softball team has produced a winning season for eight consecutive years. He led the Falcons to 22-plus wins in every season between 2015-18, including a single-season program record of 30 victories in 2017.

During the 2015 season, Coach Emielita coached rookie Gillian Fortier to a Fst-Team All-Conference nod, a GNAC Player and Rookie of the Year accolade, and an NFCA Northeast Second Team Selection. In addition, his outstanding coaching led to a GNAC Coach of the Year award in 2015. Fortier garnered both GNAC Player of the Year honors and NFCA Northeast Second Team accolades again in the 2017 season after the Falcons' record-setting 30-win campaign.

To date, Coach Emielita has produced 20 GNAC All-Conference players, with multiple players receiving repeat recognition.

Under Coach Emielita's leadership, Albertus has appeared in seven consecutive GNAC Tournaments, beginning with the 2014 campaign. In addition, he has tallied eight victories over AMC's GNAC playoff streak.

During his coaching tenure, coach Emielita has also coached for the Connecticut Hornets and the Connecticut Raiders. In addition, he is a USA softball umpire and is one of the District Commissioners for USA Softball of Connecticut.

Coach Emielita is set to be inducted on Sunday, May 15, at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, Conn.
