Carli Matrisian Named Softball's Interim Head Coach

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Albertus Magnus College and the Albertus Athletic Department are pleased to announce Carli Matrisian has been named interim head coach of the Falcons' softball team.

Matrisian has spent the past seven seasons with the Falcons, joining the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant prior to the 2016 campaign.

"I am very excited for the opportunity to serve as Interim Head Coach for Albertus Softball," said head coach Carli Matrisian. "This is extremely special for me since I am an alumna of Albertus Magnus College. I intend to continue to build on the legacy Coach Ed created during his tenure at the College. We are going to work tirelessly to continue the program's upward trajectory and provide a great experience for our student-athletes."

Matrisian takes over at the helm of the Albertus softball team after former head coach Ed Emilieta recently announced he would be stepping down. Emielita has helmed the Albertus softball team for the past 12 seasons and, to date, has an overall coaching record of 218-196. Under Coach Emielita's leadership, Albertus has appeared in seven consecutive GNAC Tournaments, beginning with the 2014 campaign.

As a player, Matrisian transferred to Albertus in the Spring of 2014 for her final two seasons and appeared in 75 games as a shortstop for the softball team. A team captain as a senior, she helped lead the Falcons to 44 wins in two seasons, including a berth in the Great Northeast Conference Championship (GNAC) game and ECAC Championship game in 2015.

Outside of softball, Matrisian works in the Admissions Department as an admissions counselor and serves as the Athletic Liaison for the College.
