Softball Places Five on Academic All-District® Team

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College softball team placed five student-athletes on the 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, formerly CoSIDA. Honored for their combined academic and athletic achievements were Ivy Geloso (Beacon Falls, Conn.), Janelle Franklin (Middletown, Conn.), Breanna Saldivar (Middletown, Conn.), Angelina Ramada (North Branford, Conn.) and Peyton Davis (North Haven, Conn.).

The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Baseball and Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball and softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6 for softball and June 7 for baseball.  

2022-23 Academic All-District® Softball Teams

Geloso completed her graduate season with 27 hits including eight doubles and three triples for a .290/.371/.441 slash line. The designated player scored 20 runs while batting in 14 along with six stolen bases. Geloso is working toward her master's in business administration and has a 3.78 graduate cumulative grade-point average.

Franklin had 47 hits and four doubles during her 137 at-bats during the 2023 season. She also notched 13 RBI and scored a team-best 29 runs. The senior infielder compiled a .343/.427/.372 slash line and also had a fielding percentage rate of .986. On the academic side, Franklin majors in psychology and holds a 3.82 cumulative GPA.

In 138 at-bats, Saldivar posted a .362/.390/.435 slash line. She had 45 hits, nine doubles and three triples on the season. She batted in 18 runs and was tied for second on the team in runs with 27. The junior posts a 3.90 cumulative GPA while majoring in psychology in counseling & mental health.

Ramada started in 42 of her 43 games played, accumulating 50 hits during 141 at-bats. She notched six doubles on the campaign while batting in 24 runs and scoring 26. She posted a .355/.399/.397 slash line and had a fielding percentage rate of .981. The senior outfielder studies management and holds a 3.89 cumulative GPA.

Davis rounds out the last of the softball honorees, who acquired 42 hits during her 124 at-bats during the 2023 season. She compiled a .339/.443/.403 slash line along with 27 RBI and 27 runs scored for second on the team in both categories. She posts a 3.96 cumulative GPA while majoring in psychology.
