The Albertus Magnus women's basketball team has been selected at the No. 8 seed for the 2013 New England ECAC Tournament and will travel to top-seeded Castleton State on Wednesday night for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
The Falcons, who are currently 20-7 on the year, made their third Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Tournament appearance in the last four years last week when they opened postseason play with an upset victory over fourth-seeded Rivier in Nashua, N.H.
Despite falling to eventual-GNAC Champion Emmanuel College the following Thursday, the Falcons have produced one of its most successful seasons in program history. Albertus opened the season with a 7-0 record, its best start in the history of the program.
Castleton has earned a program-record 26 wins this season as they are 26-2 on the year after coming up just short in the North Atlantic Conference Championship game on Saturday against Colby-Sawyer. This is the Spartans first trip to the ECAC Tournament since 2007, while the Spartans were NCAA Tournament participants just a year ago.
