Scott, Murray-Leach Named Falcon Spotlight Athletes Of The Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After leading the Albertus Magnus College women's basketball team to a 3-1 start, as well as both hitting personal milestones, Caitlyn Scott (White Plains, N.Y.) and Jakara Murray-Leach (Norwalk, Conn.) have been named the Falcon Spotlight Athletes of the Week.

Scott and Murray-Leach both scored their 1,000th point of their career in a 100-42 win over Rosemont on Sunday, November 12 after Scott scored 19 points and Murray-Leach, 25 to go with nine rebounds.

In their opening game against Framingham State on November 8, Scott scored 28 points to go with four rebounds, five assists and five steals, while Murray-Leach opened up her season with a double-double, scoring 14 points with 11 rebounds.

Murray-Leach racked up her second double-double of the season in the Falcons first win of the season, an 87-65 win over the University of New England with 25 points and ten rebounds. Scott scored 24 points with five rebounds and four steals.

 

 

Most recently, in an 82-75 win over New Jersey City University, Scott scored 36 with eight rebounds and three assists. She also shot 9-for-15 from the field, 3-for-6 from three and 15-for-17 from the free throw line as she played all 40 minutes. Murray Leach finished with 18 points with seven rebounds, two blocks and a steal.

Through four games, Scott is averaging 26.8 points per game on 45.2 percent shooting, 4.8 rebounds and three assists. She is also shooting 85 percent (34-for-40) from the free-throw line. Murray-Leach is averaging 20.5 points per game on 47.5 percent shooting with 9.3 rebounds per game and 1.3 blocks per game.
