Falcons Tie for Fifth in Second Week of Virtual Meets

WEEK 2 RESULTS | WEEK 2 HIGHLIGHTS

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's swimming & diving team continued its virtual meets, tying for fifth place in the second week of action with 92 overall points. After two weeks, the Falcons sit in fifth place overall with 175 points, edging the University of Saint Joseph (CT) (153) in sixth.

In addition to USJ, Albertus leads Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) foes Elms College (97.5) and Colby-Sawyer College (71.5). The Chargers only have one week of scores, as they did not compete in week two.

WEEK 2 RESULTS
50 Yard Freestyle
Ana Lucia Gutierrez Gomez (Hermosillo, Mexico) continued her outstanding start to the season, taking second place for a whopping 17 points with a time of 26.66.

100 Yard Butterfly
Gutierrez Gomez then finished in 11th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:10.89 for six points.
Trista Caron (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished 13th (1:35.04) in the same event for four points.

100 Yard Freestyle
Gutierrez Gomez logged her third scoring time with a 13th-place run with a time of 1:02.01.

100 Yard Breaststroke
Megan Anderson (Levittown, N.Y.) grabbed three points with a time of 1:28.36, good for 14th place.

200 Yard IM
A trio of Falcons logged scoring times in the 200 IM, led by Anderson (3:05.56) in 14th for three points.
Caron took 15th place and two points with a time of 3:06.08.
Crisbeth Castañeda (Guatemala City, Guatemala) rounded out Albertus' scorers in the event with a time of 3:28.42 for 16th and one point.

200 Yard Freestyle Relay
Anderson, Castañeda, Caron, and Kiara Pabon (Hamden, Conn.) placed eighth for 22 points with a combined time of 2:17.08.
Yazlene Perez (New Haven, Conn.), Roxhensa Dilolli (Plantsville, Conn.), Arle Cruceta (Salcedo, Dominican Republic), and Chisunta Chikwamu (Lusaka City, Zambia) finished 11th in the same event for 12 points with a time of 3:09.99.

400 Yard Medley Relay
Caron, Anderson, Gutierrez Gomez, and Castañeda combined to take 18 points with a ninth-place showing (5:08.15).

NEWS & NOTES
• Gutierrez Gomez posted her second straight week with a top-five showing, placing second in the 50 freestyle.
• Freshmen Crisnelly Martinez-Tejada (Stratford, Conn.) and Arooba Sholmiyet (Islamabad, Pakistan) also took part in the meet, but did not set any scoring times.

UP NEXT
The women's swimming & diving team will begin to set times for week three on April 8.
