Women's Tennis Picked Seventh in GNAC Preseason Coaches' Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. -  The Albertus Magnus College women's tennis team was slated to finish seventh in the 2021 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll. The poll, released on Friday afternoon, was voted on by the league's seven head coaches. 

The women's tennis team participated in one match during the 2020-21 school year, falling in a home contest to the Blue Jays of Saint Joseph's (Conn.) by a score of 6-3. During the 2019-20 school year, the Falcons went 4-9 overall, with a 9-0 victory over Vaughn College.

Regis (Mass.) College currently tops the rankings, heading into the season with 42 points and three of the seven first-place votes. The Simmons University Sharks followed closely behind with 40 points and one first-place vote, with Colby-Sawyer College nipping at their heels with 38 points and one first-place vote. Eastern Nazarene took the middle spot in the rankings, accumulating 28 points and earning the final pair of first-place votes.

University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) took command of the fifth slot, earning 22 points, while Lesley College and Albertus followed in the final two spots with 14 points and 12 points, respectively.

The Falcons open their 2021 season with a home match against conference foe Simmons University on Saturday, September 11th.
