HIGHLIGHTS

  • Game #1
    • Maddy Teta led off the game for MCLA with a single to centerfield and promptly stole the first of her two stolen bases on the afternoon. She was advanced to third on a ground out by Ella Staffier and then scored on a ground out by Lora Woyton.
    • In the third inning, the Trailblazers extended their lead to 3-0 when Teta started a two-out rally with another single to center before stealing second. Staffier then doubled down the rightfield line to score Teta. Woyton got her second RBI of the game when she brought Staffier around with a single to center field, putting the visitors ahead 3-0.
    • Albertus erased that lead with three runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning to tie the game. In the bottom of the sixth, the Falcons added two more runs to set the final score at 5-3.
    • Ema Signore threw three scoreless innings of relief for the Falcons to get her first win of the season, evening her record at 1-1. Sarah Williams went the distance for MCLA but still saw her record drop to 2-4.
  • Game #2
    • Hailey Peabody went 5-5 in the second game, scoring three runs while driving in another, and stole her team-leading sixth base of the season.
    • Albertus scored the game's first runs in the bottom of the first, scoring a pair of runs on two hits. The Trailblazers cut that lead in half by responding with a run of their own in the top of the second inning, taking advantage of two errors before Teta brought Justina Pardi home with an RBI single to center.
    • The Falcons got the run back in the bottom of the frame to restore their two-run lead, only to see the lead slip away entirely when MCLA scored two runs in the top of the third. Peabody led off the inning with a bunt single down the third base line and advanced all the way to third when Maggie Closinski's lined shot to third was thrown wide by the third baseman. Pardi then scored Peabody with a sacrifice fly to right field while Madyson Torres brought Closinski home with a double into left field.
    • The Trailblazers got their first lead of the game in the top of the fourth inning. Staffier hit a one-out triple to right field and came home to score when Woyton singled through the middle. Peabody then singled to chase the Falcons starter Signore from the game. Closinski welcomed the new pitcher with a fielder's choice that wiped Woyton at third base before Kristie Zator doubled down the left-field line to score Peabody.
    • Albertus scored one in the fifth to cut the lead in half before MCLA responded with runs in the top of the sixth and seventh innings. Peabody scored the run in the sixth on an RBI single by Pardi, while Teta came home with the seventh run in the seventh inning when Peabody singled to center.
    • The Falcons took the game in walk-off fashion, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, which was capped by a two-run single by Julianna Petruzziello.
    • Skylar Arent got the win to even her record at 2-2, while the Trailblazers Woyton suffered her second complete game loss in as many starts and fell to 0-3 on the year.
