Cronin’s Nine Goals Helps Lead Blazers to Win Over Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Elms College Women's Lacrosse team traveled to play the Albertus Magnus College in conference action Tuesday afternoon.

BASICS
Score: Elms College 19 | Albertus Magnus College 3
Records: Blazers 6-7, 6-6 (GNAC) | Falcons 1-15, 1-10 (GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Blazers got off to a torrid start, as senior Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) wasted no time scoring the Blazer's first goal, which was assisted by sophomore Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, NY). Cronin followed her assist up with the second goal of the game off of a nice assist by first-year Rachel Dort (Chicopee, MA). Cronin continued her hot streak early by scoring two of the next three Blazers goals, with the third coming from junior Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, ME). Elms did not let up on the Falcons, as Paier and Cronin scored once more to put the Blazers up 7-0 after one. The Falcons would score two goals in the second period, but had no answer for the trio of Cronin, Frankwicz and Dort, as the three would combine to score five more goals for the Blazers to put them up 12-2 at halftime. In the third, Paier and Cronin would score again, but Elms got two goals from sophomore Julianna Morrissette (Killingly, CT) and junior Joni McGillis (Katy, TX), both of whom scored their first goals of the season. The Blazers would continue to play well on defense, only allowing one more Albertus goal, while Paier, Cronin, and Frankwicz scored again for the Blazers, giving Elms the 19-3 win.
